Pero… no nos pongamos catastróficos, los daños solo serían relevantes si fueras un nadador de alta competición que pasa horas y horas en el agua. Si no es tu caso, no tienes de qué preocuparte, pero aún así, te recomendamos tomar ciertas precauciones si vas a la playa o la piscina todos los días, por si acaso.
Como siempre, el elemento de la boca que más sufre es el esmalte, que puede erosionarse con la sal y el cloro. ¡Si el tuyo es débil ten cuidado!
Mitos sobre el agua de mar en la salud bucal
Al igual que te decimos que no te preocupes si tus baños no son muy prolongados, también queremos alertarte de ciertas creencias y modas muy extendidas que sí pueden afectar negativamente a los dientes.
Por ejemplo, los cepillados con agua marina, a pesar de que se dice que elimina toxinas y desinfectan, también corrompen el esmalte. Además, el agua de las playas comunes contienen sustancias artificiales tóxicas derivadas de la población, por lo que también pierde su función depurativa. Tampoco los enjuagues con agua salada son recomendables, aunque sí es verdad que si tienes alguna pequeña herida puede ayudar a cicatrizarla, no obstante nunca uses agua de mar, sino agua con sodio de farmacia.

¿Qué pasa si exponemos nuestros dientes al agua de piscina durante largos periodos de tiempo? Si pasas más de seis hora semanales en agua con cloro empieza a tomar precauciones, ya que los agentes químicos pueden erosionar el esmalte, provocar carie y originar sedimentos orgánicos entre los dientes, comúnmente conocidos como sarro del nadador.
Para evitar todo esto y seguir disfrutando de la natación o de tus baños de verano sigue estos consejos:
- Si entrenas a diario es recomendable realizar una limpieza bucal cada seis meses para combatir el sarro.
- Realizar pruebas de la flora de los dientes con regularidad.
- Comprobar que el nivel químico de la piscina sea óptimo.
- ¡Disfrutar al máximo de tu hobby favorito!
